3. The Service Design Process

There are a number of well tested and documented design processes. The starting point for a new design is the Requirements Specification. We've already had a look at the Specification.

A popular design tool is called the 'Triple Diamond' design process

The Service Specifications do not include details of the 'Customer Service' to be provided when dealing with Patients (Customers). This requires a set of 'Service Principles' to be developed, preferably co-designed with Patients.

If you Google NHS Service Design NHS Digital pop up. They seem to be taking the lead on NHS Service Design. It's about time someone did!

Three further aspects of service design are the Service Delivery Processes, Patient Flow, and these two impact on the third, Physical Layout.
